Why your files never leave your device
Every tool on this site is a program that runs inside your browser, not a form that sends your file to a server. When you drop a picture or a PDF, it is read into the memory of your own device and handed to a Web Worker, a background thread that keeps the page responsive while it works.
The heavy lifting is done by the same open-source engines the big tools use, compiled to WebAssembly so they run at near-native speed in the browser: MozJPEG, libwebp and libavif for images, pdf-lib and PDF.js for documents, Tesseract for text recognition, libarchive for archives, Google's woff2 for fonts, LAME for MP3, and your browser's own video and audio encoders. They are downloaded once, cached, and work offline afterwards.
You can check it: under every result a meter shows the bytes transferred while the tool worked, and it reads 0 B. There is no account, no upload history and nothing to delete afterwards, because nothing was ever stored anywhere but on your device.
